Most Vital Tips for Building A Dream Deck that Fits Your Budget
To All Our Valued Customers, Over the past few years, the Covid 19 Pandemic has forced us to adapt and change the way we do things on a day-to-day basis. Florida Lumber is no exception. To make sure that we remain strong and competitive in the market for the years to come, Florida Lumber has had to adjust and change our vision for the future. In the last 2 years, we have stopped selling Sheetrock and drywall products, roofing felt and roofing materials, and have even closed on Saturdays.
Over the last few months, we have been transitioning our way out of the door supply business so on August 31, 2022, our door shop will stop assembling doors. We will continue liquidating our doors from inventory until we are out of material.
Some customers have asked if we are closing or even moving locations. To set the story straight, we are not closing or selling the business and we are not moving. These changes are all part of our new vision and path to continue serving South Florida and increasing our footprint in the construction supply industry.
Our focus is going to be on Lumber, Construction Materials, Rebar Fabrication and Rebar Accessories. As we have liquidated some of the items that we don’t sell anymore we have created more space to buy a larger volume of our core items and pass on the savings to our customers.
In the next year you will start seeing changes that will help improve our ability to serve you, our customers. We appreciate your business and your patience as Florida Lumber’s new vision becomes reality.

Building a deck is an easier way to extend your living room. It allows you an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful sceneries of the outdoors.
You'll need to draft a plan for building a decent deck that fits your budgetary provisions.
The success of the entire exercise will depend on the materials you use, the deck builders you hire and your financial capabilities.
In this article, we'll focus on helpful tips that will ensure you get the best design for your home. Have a look.
Make a Concrete Plan
Failure to plan is actually planning to fail. It's imperative that you have a plan to guide you in the entire process.
The plan you make should answer these questions. Why are you building a new deck? What's the cost of entire exercise? Do you have the money and other resources necessary to implement the project?
Understanding your reasons behind the exercise will ensure the entire process revolves around meeting these needs. It'll guide the experts you engage and the materials you use.
But can you afford to hire experts and buy the right construction materials? All this will depend on how well you manage your finances. You can draft a financial budget to determine the costs you will incur in the process.
You may engage an expert to design a plan for your deck installation process.
Use Fasteners
One of the biggest mistakes you can make in the process is compromising on quality to reduce costs. Using low-quality screws is not good for your deck. They'll easily discolor or corrode your deck and thus reduce its lifespan.
In fact, if your deck becomes rickety, it's because of failing fasteners, not wood.
As you buy lumber for deck building, it's imperative that you invest your funds on coated stainless steel screws. These will resist corrosion and increase the deck's lifespan.
While on the subject, it’s worth noting that electroplate-galvanized screws are not ideal for use in constructing your deck.
Know Your Decking Material Options
Currently, there are more decking materials to choose from than ever before. If you're a fan of real wood, then hardwood is your best bet. These materials offer a rich and luxurious appearance that you won’t find anywhere else.
If you want a slightly different look and experience, the synthetic and composite decking materials are your best bet. These materials are simple to maintain and may last for years. They are, however, more costly as compared to wood materials.
In choosing the best material to use, consider your tastes and preferences. It's also important to choose a material that doesn't overwhelm your finances.
Hire an Expert
The quality of services you receive will depend on the skills, expertise, and experience of the deck builders you hire. It's therefore important to make sure you choose the best person for the job.
Don't make the mistake of making the decision based on costs only. However, you should be mindful of the rates being charged.
Relying on their charges can be misleading. For instance, the most competent deck builders will offer their services at higher rates than their inexperienced experts. The price you pay for the project should reflect a balance between quality and cost.
Remember, cheap is always expensive. If you opt for cheaper installation costs, the resulting maintenance costs will be high. It may also require you to re-install the deck again. The entire process is far from financially sound.
Ensure you get the entire process right the first time.
The results you get are dependent on the materials you use, the experts you hire and the funds at your disposal.
